Ali Kabacalman is the latest name to be linked with the Tigers
Hull City are said to have submitted an offer for FC Sion's defensive midfielder, Ali Kabacalman.
This is according to a fresh update from Swiss football outlet, Corner Magazine via X on Tuesday morning, who claim that the Tigers' interest in the 29-year-old has seen the Championship side test the resolve of the Swiss Super League outfit for the man who is out-of-contract on June 30 later this year.
However, City are facing competition from sides on the continent for his signature, as Ruben Selles continues to search for bodies to add to a somewhat new-look side in the Spaniard's first transfer window in charge.
Hull have become notorious with continental acquisitions ever since Acun Ilicali took over the club three years ago this month, with varying levels of success in this particular market.
However, if acquired, Selles will hope that Kabacalman will add further steel to his midfield as the side look to progress up the second tier standings in the remaining 20 matches of the league campaign, as they are currently inside the bottom three after scoring five times less than Portsmouth.
As referenced above, Swiss football outlet, CornerMagazine, have stated that Hull have submitted an offer for the defensive midfielder, who is out-of-contract at the Stade de Tourbillon at the conclusion of the 2024/25 season on June 30th.
The financial ramifications of this offer have not yet been publicised, although the Tigers are set to face competition from Turkish Süper Lig side Konyaspor as well as one of the biggest names currently in the 2.Bundesliga, in the form of Hertha Berlin.
This isn't the first time Kabacalman has been linked with a departure from the side which he joined in 2023 from Yverdon-Sport, with the same news outlet reporting last July that fellow Turkish club, Amedspor, had explored the possibility of acquiring the midfielder after their promotion to the Süper Lig last season.
So far this season, Kabacalman has featured in all 18 of Sion's encounters in the Swiss Super League, scoring in a 4-0 rout over Lausanne-Sport in August, as well as netting against FC St Gallen in early November.
Despite seeing the likes of Steven Alzate and Gustavo Puerta in particular, flourish in midfield since Selles' arrival last month, it is clear that the former Reading boss is looking to bolster his options in the centre of the park this winter.
That has been evident, not only with these links to Kabacalman, who features predominantly as a holding midfielder with averages such as 1.2 interceptions, 1.3 tackles and 5.9 recoveries in the Swiss top flight, but that former Middlesbrough playmaker Matt Crooks is on the cusp of finalising a two-and-a-half year deal at the MKM Stadium after lengthy discussions with the club.
Whilst Crooks is obviously a more well-known figure for his goalscoring output in the Championship with the Teesside outfit, the potential acquisition of Kabacalman would add a different dimension to Hull's midfield three, as many supporters believed they have lacked a dominant 'number six' at the base of their midfield under all of Liam Rosenior, Tim Walter and now Selles.
