FLW's Hull City fan pundit has been discussing what their dream summer transfer window looks like at the MKM Stadium.
This article is part of Football League World's 'Terrace Talk' series, which provides personal opinions from our FLW Fan Pundits regarding the latest breaking news, teams, players, managers, potential signings and more…
Hull City are heading for a hugely important summer transfer window, regardless of whether they're plying their trade in the Championship, or League One next season.
The Tigers are fighting for their lives at the foot of the Championship, as Ruben Selles looks to keep the club in the second tier before building towards a brighter future.
Despite some excellent recruitment last season, Hull just fell short of achieving a play-off finish by three points, and their inability to replicate those levels of transfer success this season - particularly in the winter window - has been one of the reasons for their struggles this term.
As such, City are set for a critically important summer in the market, either to equip themselves for a League One promotion push, or to ensure they are scrapping at the other end of the Championship table next season.
We asked our Hull City fan pundit, Ryan Frankish: 'What would a dream 2025 summer transfer window look like for Hull City?'
Frankish said: "I couldn't name players off the top of my head, but we need to sign Joe Gelhardt on a permanent. Absolutely.
"I don't think wingers are that much of a problem because we'll have (Mohamed) Belloumi and (Liam) Millar coming back. I think our midfield is sound: (Steven) Alzate, (Eliot) Matazo, (Matt) Crooks, (Regan) Slater, if he is to stay.
"I'm happy with all of that, and also we've got Xavi Simons coming back. It's the full-backs for me. I think we need a right-back, and we definitely need a left-back, and we need a striker.
"That really is as plain and simple for me. I know every club needs a striker, but I really do believe that this next transfer window - it's the big one. We can really focus on just putting the money into a striker.
"Nothing else, majorly, just pay the big bucks for a striker, and then some decent full-backs. We managed to get Cody Drameh on a free; I don't know why he's not playing.
"It shows that those full-backs on a budget are there, but we need to spend the money on a striker. That would be it for me."
Heading into their Good Friday clash away at Swansea City, Hull City have found the net just 41 times in 42 Championship games so far this season (correct as of AM 18 April).
With 33-year-old Joao Pedro being the Tigers' top scorer on six goals after 42 games, and with Selles' side being amongst the lowest-ranked teams in the division for goals per game, expected goals and shots on target per game respectively, the importance of sharpening their cutting edge in attack this summer is clear.
This lack of goals in the team has been costing Hull dearly this season, as in contrast, their defense has been fairly solid this term, as their 1.2 goals conceded per game average ranks as the ninth-best in the Championship (as of AM 18 April) - per FotMob.
Therefore, the signs are there that should Hull find themselves a goalscorer in the summer transfer window, and bolster one or two other weak spots in the side, then the foundations of a good team are there for Selles to work with next season.
