Former Arsenal and Manchester City star Gael Clichy believes Chelsea could go on and be really dominant over the next ten years.
It’s been a difficult couple of years for the Blues both on and off the pitch since Todd Boehly and Clearlake Capital took over in May 2022.
The Blues changed manager again over the summer, with Enzo Maresca replacing Mauricio Pochettino and the Italian became the fourth permanent manager under the new ownership.
However, it appears the Chelsea project might finally have lift off with the Blues making a very good start to the season.
Chelsea currently sit second and have only lost two of their 15 league games, and are currently just four points behind leaders Liverpool, although they have a game in hand.
The expensively assembled squad of young talent is currently firing on all cylinders and Chelsea have now found themselves in the title race conversation.

Maresca has consistently played down talk of the title, but has said he believes the Blues can be one of the club’s to dominate English football over the next five or ten years.
Former Arsenal and City star Clichy shares Maresca’s view and believes with the players they have it’s a real possibility.
“People start to realise that if the manager of today is the right one, they could go on and be really dominant for the next 10 years, with the players they have. I really feel that,” he told The Planet Premier League Podcast.

It’s virtually impossible to predict that far ahead, but what can be said is the Blues are in a position with their squad where that could be a possibility.
They have completely rebuilt the squad over the last couple of years with players mainly in their early twenties, and in theory they won’t need to rebuild the squad for a number of years, whereas a lot of their rivals will need to go through significant rebuilds.
