‘I think his words will wake up the group’ – Wilfried Singo expecting Monaco reaction

Having gone six months unbeaten, AS Monaco lost their aura of invincibility against OGC Nice a fortnight ago before then losing to SCO Angers on Friday.

“I was really angry about the game against Angers. You cannot compare it to Nice. There are two different reasons why we lost the games. 11v11 we dominated against Nice but against Angers, we missed everything that we do really well: pressing, transitions, and working defensively and offensively… we cannot accept this performance,” said Adi Hütter ahead of Tuesday’s UEFA Champions League encounter against Bologna.

Monaco look to wrap up qualification for Champions League play-off phase

A win against Bologna would see Monaco reach the 10-point mark in the Champions League, a figure thought to be sufficient to see qualification for the play-off phase of the competition. Reaching that tally is the objective while in Italy.

“Tomorrow is another game, another competition. A huge goal tomorrow is leaving Bologna with points,” said Hütter in a pre-match press conference, attended by Get French Football News. The Austrian’s words outside the press room and in the dressing room could make the difference, according to Wilfried Singo.

“The coach spoke a lot and motivated us a lot,” began Singo, who returns to Italy having previously played for Torino. “With strong words? Yes, it’s normal. I think that his words will wake up the group.”
