William Gallas is confident Enzo Maresca is the right man for the job and hopes he remains in charge of Chelsea next season.

Maresca was appointed as Mauricio Pochettino’s successor last summer after guiding Leicester to the Championship title, signing a five year deal at Stamford Bridge.

The Italian made a brilliant start to life in west London, with Chelsea flying high in second at Christmas, but things have taken a turn since then.

Gallas confident Maresca is the right man for the job

Maresca has coming under increasing pressure, with the Blues struggling for form since Christmas, and fans have become increasingly frustrated with the style of play.

Chelsea currently sit fifth in the Premier League level on points with Nottingham Forest who have a game in hand, whilst they are still on course to win the Conference League.

The Blues face a tricky run-in with tough games against Liverpool, Newcastle, Manchester United and Forest as they look to secure Champions League qualification.

Maresca’s job is believed to be safe, although if the Blues miss out on Champions League football that could potentially change.

However, Gallas has had his say on the 45-year-old and stated he believes he’s the right man to be in the Stamford Bridge dugout.

“For Maresca, he knows what and who he needs to change for next year,” Gallas said as cited on X.com.

“If he can go out and sign one world-class striker and one world-class central defender, then I expect Chelsea to be challenging next season.

Chelsea believe Maresca can become one of the best coaches in the business, but for that to happen they need to back him in the summer with a top striker and centre back.
