MIAMI – The 2024 calendar year delivered top moments across Concacaf, from the inaugural W Gold Cup and W Champions Cup to World Cup Qualifying and Nations League, the U-17 and U-15 championships, and the recently crowned Caribbean Cup and Central American Cup.

Here is a look at the best moments throughout the 2024 campaign:

United States wins the first edition of the Concacaf W Gold Cup

The United States women’s national team achieved another milestone by winning the inaugural Concacaf W Gold Cup. Lindsey Horan scored the match-winning goal in the final as the Stars and Stripes won 1-nil against Brazil, a matchup that would repeat itself at the Paris 2024 Olympics in the Gold Medal match.

The W Gold Cup also featured the last international appearance in an official competition for Alex Morgan. The U.S. legend announced her retirement in September, with her final international goal coming against Argentina on Feb. 23, 2024, in the Concacaf W Gold Cup.

Pachuca adds their sixth Concacaf Champions Cup title

CF Pachuca returned to the top of the mountain in Concacaf club soccer by winning the Champions Cup for a sixth time with a 3-nil win against Columbus Crew. The Tuzos remained perfect in finals, making it six for six, and extended its undefeated streak in CCC title games at Estadio Hidalgo.

The Mexican club made a run to the final of the 2024 FIFA Intercontinental Cup, falling to Real Madrid CF in the final. Pachuca earned wins over Botafogo and Al Ahly FC to win the FIFA Derby of the Americas and FIFA Challenger trophies in the previous rounds.

Panama makes history by winning their first Futsal Championship

Panama won the 2024 Concacaf Futsal Championship last April, defeating Cuba 4-3 in a thrilling final at the Polideportivo Alexis Arguello in Managua, Nicaragua. The conquest marked the first title for Los Canaleros, who returned to their first final since the 2016 edition.

Alfonso Maquensi was named the recipient of the tournament’s Best Player Award, presented by Scotiabank, and goalkeeper Jaime Peñaloza was recognized as the Best Goalkeeper. Panama also earned the Fair Play Award.

United States complete the three-peat in Concacaf Nations League

The U.S. men’s national team won its third Concacaf Nations League trophy, extending its record to three titles, with a 2-nil win against Mexico in June. Tyler Adams and Gio Reyna scored in the championship game at AT&T Stadium in Arlington, Texas.

The USMNT will seek to make it four for four in the 2025 CNL Finals. Canada, Mexico, and Panama also strive to win their first CNL crown when Hollywood Park and SoFi Stadium in Inglewood, CA, host the next finals.

Canada writes their name among the four best teams in Copa América

Canada made headlines in the summer with a program-best fourth-place finish in the 2024 Copa America. The Concacaf side opened the tournament against eventual champions Argentina and went on a three-match unbeaten streak before facing La Albiceleste again in the semifinals.

The Reds tied 2-2 against Uruguay in the third-place match before the bronze medal was decided on PKs, 4-3 in favor of the South Americans. Jonathan David was the team’s top scorer with two goals.

Adalberto Carrasquilla and Melchie Dumornay are the 2023/24 Concacaf Players Of The Year

Adalberto Carrasquilla won the 2023/24 Concacaf Men’s Player of the Year Award, and Melchie Dumornay won the 2023/24 Concacaf Women’s Player of the Year Award. Both made history as the first winners of the awards for Panama and Haiti, respectively.

Carrasquilla began a superb 2023/24 by helping Panama reach the final of the 2023 Concacaf Gold Cup, won the tournament’s Golden Ball, and was named to the competition’s Best XI. He also helped Panama to a second consecutive 2023/24 CNL Finals appearance, an undefeated start to 2026 World Cup qualifying, and quarterfinals finish in the 2024 Copa América.

At the club level with Houston Dynamo FC, Carrasquilla helped the club claim its second Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup to return to the Concacaf Champions Cup. The Panamanian also helped his side make a run in the MLS Cup Playoffs, reaching the Western Conference Final.

Dumornay, 21, has been a rising star due to her stellar performances for club and country. At the 2022 Concacaf W Championship, Dumornay impressed by winning the Young Player Award and was named to the tournament’s Best XI. She represented Haiti in all three group matches at the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup, the nation’s first-ever appearance, and closed the year as one of the highest-scoring teams in the Road to W Gold Cup tournament.

At the club level with Olympique Lyonnais, Dumornay appeared in 20 matches and scored nine goals across all club competitions. She helped OL to win the 2023 Trophée des Championnes and earned the 2023/24 UEFA Women's Champions League Young Player of the Season award.

USA Crowned in U-17 and U-15, while Mexico Reigns in U-20

The United States reigned supreme at the 2024 FIFA U-17 Women’s World Cup and the 2024 Concacaf Girls’ U-15 Championship. The woman’s program also excelled at the 2024 FIFA U-20 Women's World Cup with a third-place finish.

Mexico returned to the champions podium at the 2024 Concacaf U-20 Championship, defeating the U.S. 2-1 in extra time of a thrilling final. Cuba was another of the riveting stories of the campaign, outlasting Honduras on penalties in the quarterfinals to qualify for the second time to the U-20 World Cup.

The first edition of the W Champions Cup defined its four semifinalists

History was made with the kickoff of the inaugural W Champions Cup. Tigres UANL Femenil, NJ/NY Gotham FC, Club América Femenil, and Portland Thorns are the four clubs that advanced to the W Champions Cup Finals.

The four teams will meet next May to determine the first-ever champion. Tigres UANL will face Portland Thorns, and Club América will meet Gotham FC to determine the finalists.

Amazing run for Dominican Republic in Nations League, qualifying for first Gold Cup

The Dominican Republic went a perfect 6-0-0 in to finish atop Group D in League B of the 2024/25 Concacaf Nations League. Dorny Romero shined as the top scorer across all leagues with 10 goals as Los Quisqueyanos earned promotion to League A and qualified for the first time to the Concacaf Gold Cup.

Alajuelense, Back-to-Back Central American Cup Champions

LD Alajuelense successfully defended its crown and won the Concacaf Central American Cup in back-to-back seasons. The Costa Rican club also maintained its unbeaten streak in the tournament’s history.

Diego Campos received the Best Player Award, presented by Scotiabank, for his seven-goal contributions and took the Top Scorer Award, presented by Aramco. Leonel Moreira won the Best Goalkeeper Award, and Alajuelense earned the Fair Play Award.

Cavalier Seals Redemption with Caribbean Cup Win

Cavalier FC successfully returned to the Caribbean Cup Final, winning its first title by defeating Cibao FC. The Jamaican club swept the awards list and featured six players in the Best XI.

Dwayne Atkinson led with his playmaking in 11 goals on his way to winning the Best Player Award, presented by Scotiabank, while Shaquille Stein took the Top Scorer Award, presented by Aramco, with eight goals. Vino Barclett was named the Best Goalkeeper and Jalmaro Calvin won the Young Player Award, presented by Aramco, as Cavalier as a team took the Fair Play Award.
