Inter Milan wingback Tajon Buchanan made a late cameo appearance in last night’s 2-0 Serie A win against Como.
Speaking to the press after the game via FCInterNews, Buchanan revealed he’s taking Italian lessons to adapt faster.
The defending Serie A champions signed the 25-year-old from Club Brugge last January.
Indeed, Inter parted with €7 million to lure the Canadian international to Stadio Giuseppe Meazza.
However, he has yet to hit the ground running.
Buchanan made ten league appearances last season, scoring once.
He had hoped this would be his breakthrough campaign in Italy before a long-term injury hindered his progress.
Unfortunately, he broke his leg during last summer’s Copa America and only recently returned to action.
Simone Inzaghi handed him his fourth league outing last night.
But it’s worth noting that Buchanan has only amassed 54 minutes of top-flight action this term.
Nonetheless, he is eager to demonstrate his talent and remains confident about his qualities.
Buchanan reveals that Lautaro Martinez and Marcus Thuram have been there for him during his lengthy spell on the sidelines.
In addition, he confirms other Inter stars have been trying to help him get through those torrid times.
“Everyone helps me here – Thuram, Lautaro, all the teammates,” he said. “I am also here to help the team and achieve victories together.
“I am taking Italian lessons, I understand it better now.
“It was very important to play a few more minutes and gain confidence in my abilities.
“I feel better and better, and I’m growing.”
Buchanan couldn’t have timed his return from injury any better.
Indeed, Inter will face a congested fixture schedule at the start of the new calendar year.
Therefore, Inzaghi will need all hands on deck.
The Nerazzurri will close an impressive 2024 next week against Cagliari.
