For the fourth time this season, Milan and Inter shared the same pitch, as the Rossoneri ‘hosted’ the ‘Nerazzurri‘ in the first leg of the Coppa Italia semi-final. The two rivals traded jabs in the first half, but the score remained unchanged. Nevertheless, Sergio Conceicao’s men immediately broke the deadlock after the break thanks to a clever finish from Tammy Abraham. However, Hakan Calhanoglu practiced his favorite hobby as he tormented his former employers, scoring the equalizer from a long-range effort. So here are our player ratings for Inter who salvaged a 1-1 draw to gain a slight advantage ahead of the second half which will be played in front of their supporters.
Josep Martinez – 6.5
The Spaniard produced fabulous saves in the first half, including a superb stop with his foot on Rafael Leao’s shot. Perhaps he could have positioned himself slightly better on the opener, though it wasn’t his fault.
Yann Bisseck – 5.5
It started as a promising outing for the Germany international, whose daring run cost Theo Hernandez a booking. However, he was outwitted by Abraham on Milan’s goal.
Stefan de Vrij – 6
A decent display at the back from the experienced Dutchman who almost opened the scoring from a header.
Alessandro Bastoni – 6.5
The Italy international made himself involved with the action on both ends of the field. Came close to scoring a splendid goal.
Matteo Darmian – 6
A solid if not spectacular effort from the former Man United wingback. However, the fans certainly missed Denzel Dumfries and his legendary skirmishes with Theo.
Nicolò Barella – 6
A mixed bag from the Inter captain on the night who was uncharacteristically wasteful in possession at times. However, he had a big hand in Calhanoglu’s goal, and tested Maignan with a good effort.
Hakan Calhanoglu – 7.5
Perhaps it wasn’t quite vintage Calhanoglu, but playing against Milan always brings out the best out of the Turkish star. Scored a fabulous equalizer with a one-touch scorcher, and pulled off a superb tackle to stop Santiago Gimenez in his tracks.
Davide Frattesi – 5.5
The Italian midfielder lost his duel to Youssouf Fofana ahead of the opener, and found little joy during his 60 minutes on the pitch.
Carlos Augusto – 6
It wasn’t a terrible display by any means, but the Brazilian couldn’t make up for Federico Dimarco’s influence on the left flank.
Joaquin Correa – 6
The former Lazio man struggled to fill the large boots of his compatriot Lautaro Martinez, but at least produced the assist for the equalizer.
Marcus Thuram – 5.5
The France international is still searching for his best form after returning from injury. Played one or two decent balls to his teammates, but scuffed a few too many opportunities.
Milan Player Ratings vs Inter: Abraham Brilliance Insufficient
Henrikh Mkhitaryan – 6.5
A game-changing substitution from Simone Inzaghi. The Armenian instantly improved Inter following his introduction.
Nicola Zalewski – 6.5
The former Roma man was an upgrade on Augusto, and even played a part in the equalizer. Almost scored the winner but was denied by Maignan from point-blank range.
Benjamin Pavard – 6
A good outing at the back from the Frenchman who managed to keep Leao relatively quiet.
