Simone Inzaghi says he’s rotating the Inter Milan squad against Feyenoord to freshen up, not to save players to face Atalanta.

The Nerazzurri coach Spoke to Italian broadcaster Sky Sport Italia, via FCInterNews, ahead of this evening’s round of sixteen second leg match.

Inter Milan take on Feyenoord in the Champions League this evening.

The Nerazzurri have a 2-0 advantage from the first leg.

Therefore, it is perhaps not too surprising to see that the Nerazzurri have not necessarily named their strongest possible starting eleven.

The likes of Lautaro Martinez, Nicolo Barella, and Alessandro Bastoni are all on the bench.

Meanwhile, Mehdi Taremi and Davide Frattesi are in the Inter starting eleven.

Inter will not be underestimating Feyenoord this evening. They know that there work is far from done in this round of sixteen tie.

However, at the same time, the Nerazzurri also have another huge match just around the corner.

Inter take on Atalanta in Serie A next weekend. That match has the air of a potential title-decider.

Inter Milan coach Simone Inzaghi denied that this squad rotation is done with one eye on next Sunday’s match, however.

“Clearly we’re focusing on this evening’s match,” he said.

“Bastoni and Barella are coming off the back of three ninety minute matches in the last seven days,” he noted.

“Lautaro is another player who’s played a lot this season. And in the last day and a half, he’s dealt with some fatigue.”

Inzaghi said that “We have [Martinez] on the bench, and we’ll see how the match goes.”

The Inter coach noted that “the unknown here is that this is a Champions League round of sixteen match, and we’re facing a team that we’ve seen cause problems for so many other sides.”

“So we’ll have to keep our focus high.We have to play a match of intensity, determination, and aggression.”
