It appears that the asking price for a Serie A midfielder is set but will Manchester City move in the summer? | OneFootball

There is almost no doubt that Manchester City will continue rebuilding Pep Guardiola’s squad in the summer. The process has already begun, as we saw during the January transfer window. But the squad rebuild has only just begun at the Etihad. One player who has been consistently linked with a potential summer move to Manchester City is Atalanta midfielder Ederson. Now, it appears that the Serie A side has set an asking price for the Brazilian midfielder. Now the question becomes, will City move for one of the premier midfielders in Serie A? If they do, it does appear that they will face competition for his signature.

Rudy Galetti has reported for TeamTalk that Atalanta has set an asking price of around €60 million for Ederson. Furthermore, Galetti reports that Ederson is keen to move to the Premier League next summer. It is also reported by Galetti that, at this stage, Ederson doesn’t have a preference as to which Premier League club he would like to sign for. But that could change as we get closer to the summer transfer window. It is also included in Galetti’s report that Manchester United have an interest in signing the energetic midfielder.

With an asking price set for Ederson, his road to the Etihad may be set. That is if he is a summer target for Manchester City.

It remains to be seen if Ederson is a summer transfer target for Manchester City. Danny Rust and Dean Jones have previously reported for GIVEMESPORT that the Brazilian midfielder is a potential summer target for Pep Guardiola’s side. A Manchester City move for one of premier midfielders in Serie A does make sense. There is a lack of athleticism and legs in City’s midfield and signing Ederson would address this issue. It does also appear that football is shifting towards more energetic, quick and athletic midfielders. Teams with those attributes have got at Pep Guardiola’s side this season. So signing a player like Ederson would help Manchester City in this regard. You only have to see him play for Atalanta to see what Ederson would add to City’s midfield.

But with Atalanta reportedly having set an asking price for Ederson we now wait to see if Manchester City will move for Atalanta’s midfield workhorse in the summer. He would add a different dimension to City’s midfield. But with Manchester United reportedly also monitoring the Brazilian midfielder Manchester City may face competition to sign Ederson. The potential of him moving to the Etihad does now appear to be a story to monitor over the coming months before the summer transfer window opens.
