Antonio Conte has looked highly irritable in recent days, but Gazzetta dello Sport taunted the Italian tactician, saying that Giacomo Raspadori is the ‘living proof’ that Napoli’s reserves are ‘not so bad.’

Conte has been complaining about Napoli’s lack of ambition and organisation in recent days, suggesting that he may leave the club at the end of the season in June.

The Italian tactician was so irritable during a 1-0 win over Monza on Saturday that he even appeared to insult some Partenopei fans in the stands after Scott McTominay’s winning goal.

Conte also complained about the lack of replacements for Khvicha Kvaratskhelia, who joined PSG in the January transfer window.

McTominay’s goal against Monza was inspired by a cross from Raspadori. The Italian striker had been introduced from the bench, which prompted Gazzetta to suggest that Conte’s options on the bench are not as terrible as he’d tell.

“The link-up between Olivera and Spinazzola didn’t work, and not even Gilmour was convincing,” journalist Sebastiano Vernazza wrote in his ‘pagelle’, the player ratings.

“Conte saved himself with Raspadori, the living proof that the reserves are not so bad.”

Conte’s Napoli have now climbed to the top of the table, level on 71 points with Inter, who have a game in hand and will visit Bologna today.
