Inter Milan defender Francesco Acerbi is finally back in training after a long recovery from a thigh injury.
This according to today’s print edition of Milan-based newspaper Gazzetta dello Sport, via FCInter1908. They report that the 36-year-old will be available against Bologna on Wednesday.
Inter defender Acerbi has been out with a thigh strain since November.
The Italian international picked up his injury during a Serie A match against Hellas Verona. That was the Nerazzurri’s first match back from the November international break.
Initially, the hope was that Acerbi would be able to return within a couple of weeks.
However, the reality has been nowhere near that.
Acerbi has not managed to shake off his injury for a number of weeks. Therefore, he has spent nearly two months working on his recovery.
That has meant that Stefan de Vrij has had to fill in on a regular basis. The Dutchman has shown very good form in Acerbi’s absence, though.
But now, the wait for Acerbi to return is nearly over.
The former Lazio and Sassuolo defender is now back in full training, reports the Gazzetta.
Acerbi will not be able to be part of the squad for tomorrow’s Serie A clash with Venezia.
However, on Wednesday, Acerbi will be in the squad against Bologna.
