Real Madrid head coach Carlo Ancelotti has confirmed that the club have been left disappointed by the extent of the suspension handed down to star winger Vinícius Jr.
This of course comes after the Brazilian international, on Tuesday, learned his punishment for a red card picked up against Valencia.
After striking Los Che no.1 Stole Dimitrievski in the neck/face, Vinícius was given his marching orders following a VAR review.
Initial reports pointed towards the 24-year-old as being in line for a lengthy suspension, potentially in excess of four games.
In turn, it came as something of a surprise when it was announced last night that, instead, Vinícius will be unavailable for only Real Madrid’s next two La Liga fixtures.
And yet, one individual of the opinion that even this represents an overly heavy sanction comes in the form of the aforementioned Carlo Ancelotti.
Drawn on the ban handed down to his attacking talisman in a press conference ahead of Real Madrid’s Spanish Super Cup meeting with Mallorca on Thursday, Ancelotti assured:
“The decision to suspend Vini Jr for two matches is unfair. I hear all the insults and what he suffers… that’s not right. I get tired of it… because when people talk about Vini’s behaviour, all the insults, abuses and other things that happen to him are forgotten.”
