D.C. United continue to make a plethora of moves this off-season, this time by way of a transfer out and in. First, D.C. United have transferred homegrown centerback Matai Akinmboni to English Premier League side AFC Bournemouth for a reported fee up to $2.5m plus a sell on percentage. The 18 year old centerback is a current U.S. youth international who has 17 career games played for D.C. Akinmboni has had a really impressive international career so far that has fueled this move for the youngster.

D.C. has also added a talent in 26 year old right wingback Derek Dodson after selecting him in the MLS Re-Entry Draft. Dodson has had an impressive USL Championship career and was with Minnesota last season, however, failing to make an appearance with their 1st team. With Troy Lesesne seemingly liking to play with three in the back, Dodson seems like he could be a good fit as a backup right wingback to Aaron Herrera.
