Chelsea are getting set to face Ipswich Town in the Premier League this evening for their last game and last game of 2024.
The year has been a real whirlwind for Chelsea, and things have been very up in the air. But all in all, whether it was a better second half to the season by Mauricio Pochettino last season, or the excellent start to the season under Enzo Maresca this season, Chelsea have had a much better 2024 when you compare it to the 2 or 3 years before that.
The Blues have a chance to go second tonight after a couple of tougher games where they have actually struggled. They only managed a draw against Everton before Christmas, and then lost to Fulham on Boxing Day last week.
They will be hunting down all three points away from home tonight and really, they simply have to be taking all three points against a relegation battling Ipswich Town who are currently second from bottom in the league.
Fans want Felix to start
Via the We Ain’t Got No History community, Chelsea fans on there have picked their preferred starting Xl for the game tonight, but will it be the same as Maresca’s?
They are throwing Joao Felix back into the mix putting him wide on the left for this game, and dropping out both Pedro Neto and Jadon Sancho with Noni Madueke coming back in.
This is the starting Xl that community have picked:
4-2-3-1 (79%): Sánchez (67%) | Cucurella (94%), Colwill (93%), Tosin (86%), Gusto (61%) | Caicedo (96%), Enzo (94%) | Félix (52%), Palmer (91%), Madueke (67%) | Jackson (62%).
I do think Madueke will come back in and start, but I don’t see Felix starting unfortunately. The back four just picks itself right now with the injuries we are currently contending with, and the same can be said about the centre midfield areas.
