Jorge Meré’s current career path is far from what he could have ever imagined after starting his journey in his native Spain.
It was only five years ago that Meré left Sporting Gijón for Köln in a €7m deal. Now, the 25-year-old finds trying to find minutes while on loan at Mazatlán FC.
Despite this, Meré has kept his eye on the prize and has not closed the door on a return to Club América at the conclusion of his loan spell next summer.
“I’m on loan and the future will tell. My main objective today is to try to get minutes and that’s why I came here.
“I would like to predict the future but I cannot. In that sense of maximum tranquility, you have to live for today and tomorrow is an opportunity to earn three points here.
“For now, I owe myself to Mazatlán and as long as I have a contract here, this is the reality in my head.”
