Jorge Sampaoli concerned about Rennes’ 13th place | OneFootball

Rennes head coach Jorge Sampaoli said he was “obviously concerned” by Les Rouge et Noir‘s Ligue 1 standings. Before Sunday’s games, Rennes sit in an unusual position in 13th place on the back of their 2-1 home defeat at the hands of Roberto De Zerbi’s Marseille. Stade Rennais have now hit double figures in Ligue 1 losses, picking their 10th league loss in 17 games, averaging one point per game. The Bretons have only a one-point lead on 16th-placed Saint-Etienne.

“Obviously, we have to be concerned about this”, Sampaoli said in his post-game press conference attended by Get French Football News. “This situation was already there when we arrived. What we want is to provide solutions through the team’s set-up. I reckon it has evolved but the team doesn’t always have the opportunity to assert its superiority during games.” Sampaoli believes Rennes have grown in some aspects, but there are aspects in which Rennes must improve way more quickly than they did. “We lacked precision in possession. We have a lot of work ahead of us.“

Rennes will travel to Troyes on Wednesday for their Coupe de France RO32.
