Both América and Pumas will be without their first-choice goalkeepers for Saturday’s Clásico Capitalino between the sides at Estadio Azteca.
Guillermo Ochoa is currently sidelined through injury for Las Águilas, while the visitors must plan without Alfredo Talavera who is away on international duty with Mexico.
According to former Pumas midfielder José Luis ‘Parejita’ López, Talavera’s absence will prove a bigger burden for Los Felinos to contend with.
“I think it will hurt Pumas more,” López said, per MARCA Claro.
“Talavera has been fundamental for the team. He has made Pumas in the first places. I have said it, it was the best contract the team has made.”
The two Mexico City sides, who meet in Round 13 of Guard1anes 2020, are separated by just one point and one position in the league standings.
América are slightly ahead of their neighbours.
The Azulcrema lie in third place on 24 points, and will be looking to improve on the goalless draw they played out in the Clásico Joven against Cruz Azul last weekend.
