Journalist debunks crazy claim about Chelsea player’s earnings and it’s good news

A journalist has come out to debunk a crazy claim made about one Chelsea player’s earnings yesterday, and it is certainly good news indeed.

A lot is being said and written about Jadon Sancho this week, with the on loan Manchester United player in the headlines for taking a pop at his current employers.

EXCLUSIVE! Chelsea have laid down ground work in deal to sign striker BEFORE Club World Cup!

Sancho will join Chelsea in the summer, that has become clear, and Sancho clearly knows this and that is why he feels comfortable enough to put out some digs at United.

But yesterday there was a crazy claim about how much Chelsea were paying Sancho and how much of his current wages they are covering this season.

The Daily Mail claimed that Chelsea are covering most of Jadon Sancho’s £250,000 a week salary with Manchester United covering about £50,000 of the tab.

The minute I read this it didn’t even sound slightly true, and according to journalist Ben Jacobs, it is not true!

Sancho took pay-cut

Jacobs put out a post on it yesterday via X, and he says:

‘Jadon Sancho took a significant pay cut to join Chelsea on-loan from Manchester United. There is an obligation to buy providing Chelsea finish 15th or better. Sancho’s wage is roughly split between the clubs.’

So basically, he has completely rubbished the claims above, which clearly had no weight to it anyway.

Chelsea do not pay their players big wages anymore under the new structure, it’s just not something that they will do. So it was obvious that Chelsea were not paying almost all of Sancho’s wages and it was obvious that he would have had to have taken some sort of a pay-cut to join Chelsea.

Crazy how two different journalists can report two completely different versions of a story. Makes you wonder, right?
