Real Madrid star Jude Bellingham has taken to social media, to send a heartfelt apology message the way of the club’s supporters.
This of course comes fresh off an evening to forget for Los Blancos on the continent on Wednesday.
Real Madrid were back in action last night, welcoming Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal to Spain’s capital for the 2nd leg of a Champions League quarter-final tie.
After a 3-0 first-leg drubbing at The Emirates, the reigning La Liga champions entered the matchup aware that another historic ‘remontada’ was required.
When all was said and done, however, Carlo Ancelotti’s troops were sent packing from Europe with little more than a whimper.
Another defeat, on this occasion by two goals to one, saw Real condemned to the wrong side of a 5-1 aggregate result.
As much, it goes without saying, is far from what is expected on the part of the ‘kings’ of European club competition.
And so, the aforementioned Jude Bellingham has since felt it only right to send an apology the way of all associated with Los Merengues.
In a post on his official Instagram account, relaid by journalist Fabrizio Romano, midfielder Bellingham wrote:
“Simply didn’t live up to the expectations of this club in either of the games. Sorry Madridistas. We understand how much these nights and this competition means to you. There’s still opportunities to save this season but it’s only possible by staying together. Real Madrid will be back!”
