Lazio have reportedly received atrocious news form the infirmary, as Taty Castellanos is set for another spell on the sidelines.

The Background

The Argentinian bomber has been one of the most elelemtal players in Marco Baroni’s playing system this season. The Italian manager struggled to replace him while he was out with a thigh injury sustained against Napoli on February 15th, as neither Loum Tchaouna nor Tijjani Noslin were able to fill the void left by his absence.

Absent Again

The 26-year-old made his return to action as a starter in the Europa League second-leg clash against Viktoria Plzen. He played for 67 minutes before leaving the pitch. However, the former Girona star was nowhere to be seen on Sunday against Bologna, even with the team getting dismantled.

It was later revealed that Casteallnos had picked up another knock, so upon the team’s return to Rome, he reported to the club’s medical facility to undergo the necessary clinical tests.

Taty Castellanos Suffers Calf Injury

Although Lazio are yet to release an official statement, Il Messaggero (via Calciomercato) reveals that the results confirmed a new muscle injury in the right calf which will rule the striker out of action for at least 20 days. Therefore, he is now expected to miss the upcoming Serie A contests against Torino and Atalanta.

Derby at Risk?

The source believes the Argentina international might be able to return for the first leg of the Europa League quarter-finals against Bodo/Glimt. However, if he ends up suffering additional complications on his recovery path, he could even be in doubt for the Derby della Capitale showdown against Roma on April 13th.
