Former candidate for the presidency of FC Barcelona Victor Font has publicly called for transparency from Joan Laporta following the recent registration issues surrounding Dani Olmo and Pau Victor.

Font expressed his concern over what he described as serious problems related to the registration of these players in La Liga, which he believes reflect poorly on the club.

According to Font, the situation has tarnished the reputation of one of the world’s most prestigious football clubs.

He strongly criticized the ‘lack of professionalism’ within the current management and called for greater transparency, especially regarding the sale of Camp Nou’s VIP boxes.

He argued that it is essential for the club’s board to provide a clear explanation of their actions and outline the strategy they intend to follow moving forward.

“Given the seriousness of the events related to the registration of Dani Olmo and Pau Victor, and given the poor and inappropriate image of the best club in the world, we share the concern of all Barça fans about the disastrous sporting, economic and institutional consequences of this case,” he began saying.

Font’s statement focused on the potential consequences of these events, especially the threat of losing a player like Dani Olmo, who was signed just four months ago for €55 million.

He noted that the uncertainty surrounding Olmo’s registration, as well as Victor’s, is a result of poor planning and a lack of professionalism.

“The result is the possible loss of a player who we signed four months ago for 55 million euros and who we now see may leave due to management full of improvisation and an absolute lack of professionalism.

“We hope that the situation of the two players can be resolved, but we consider it intolerable that the top leader of Barça acts in this way and gives this image.

“That is why we demand that the board and the president Joan Laporta immediately give all the necessary explanations to detail what actions they have taken and what the consequences will be,” he added.

Questioning the decisions

Font also raised specific questions about the club’s decision-making. He wants to know why the club proceeded with signing such a valuable player despite being aware of the financial constraints under La Liga’s Fair Play regulations.

“We want to know the reason for signing such a valuable player knowing that we were exceeding the Fair Play rules if, as has been demonstrated, we had no plan to resolve the situation.

Additionally, he questioned the club’s decision to take the matter to court, especially after the legal rulings indicated that there was little chance of a positive outcome.

“We want to know the reason for going to court if we knew that there was no way forward, as evidenced by the rulings issued by the judges,” he argued.

He wants clarity

Furthermore, Font demanded clarity on the actions the club plans to take to prevent the loss of these two players, as well as transparency about the sale of VIP seats at Camp Nou.

“What actions is the club taking from now on to avoid the loss of Olmo and Pau Víctor?

“We want transparency regarding the sale of VIP seats at Camp Nou.”

He concluded by expressing his hope that Barcelona will not lose a player they invested heavily in just a few months ago.

“We want to remain hopeful that we will not lose a player just four months after signing him for 55 million euros,” he said.
