Chelsea target Mathys Tel doesn’t want to leave Bayern Munich, but could reconsider his future under one circumstance according to reports.
The January window is now in full swing and Chelsea were expected to have a quiet month, but that has now seemingly changed with the Blues in the market for a centre back following injuries to Wesley Fofana and Benoit Badiashile.
The club have a number of options available to them with Marc Guehi said to be the primary target, whilst recalling Trevoh Chalobah from Crystal Palace is being considered.
The Blues are also looking at reinforcements at the other end of the pitch, with an alternative to Nicolas Jackson upfront needed.
Chelsea have been strongly linked with Liam Delap, but they are also pushing to try and sign Bayern’s teenage forward Tel.
The Blues are said to have long term interest in the France under-21 international and enquired in the summer, whilst the asking price for the 19-year-old is believed to be in excess of £40m.
Tel, who can play both off the left and through the middle is determined to succeed at Bayern, although his game time has been limited due to the fact he’s playing second fiddle to Harry Kane.

Chelsea face a tough task trying to convince the forward, but an update from Sky Germany reported Kerry Hau has hinted the Blues could still have a chance.
“Tel does not want to leave, confirmed,” he said as cited on X.com.
“He could only have a re think if he doesn’t get chances in the next matches. So far, Tel feels there are no signs he’s out of the Bayern project.”
Another factor in the deal is Christopher Nkunku with the France international keen to join Bayern, with personal terms reportedly already agree.
The Blues are said to value Nkunku at around £65m, and Bayern want to sign him regardless of what happens with Tel.

However, Tel could be more open to the switch if Nkunku joins given that would seemingly push him further down the pecking order.
It’s certainly a situation to keep an eye on, but Chelsea are facing an upward battle currently, but the transfer window has a way of throwing up surprises.
