Lazio are reportedly ready to battle it out with another Serie A club for the services of Chelsea youngster Cesare Casadei.
The 21-year-old gained fame during his time at Inter Milan’s Primavera, but was later poached by the Blues. Last season, he had a solid six months while on loan at Leicester City before being recalled to Stamford Bridge. But since then, he’s been starving for minutes in West London, and not even a reunion with his compatriot Enzo Maresca improved his status. After all, Enzo Fernandez and Moises Caicedo are deemed almost irreplaceable in the manager’s 4-2-3-1 system.
Therefore, Casadei is looking for a way out next month, and according to Calciomercato, Monza have been working on luring him to the U-Power Stadium for quite some time. Adriano Galliani has reportedly offered the Premier League giants tempting terms, accepting a dry-loan formula while promising he’ll be an almost regular starter.
Nevertheless, Lazio are looking to offer the promising youngster to chance to feature in a more ambitious project. But the main issue remains to find an agreement with Chelsea, as the Biancocelesti would like to add an option to buy the player once his loan expires at the end of the season.
The source adds that other clubs could enter the race, but rules out a rekindled interest from Milan who are also in the market for a new midfielder, but the Rossoneri are seeking one who can act as an understudy for Youssouf Fofana who is the club’s ultimate enforcer in the middle of the park.
