Empoli starlet Jacopo Fazzini has become the latest midfielder to be linked with a potential move to Lazio in January.
The Biancocelesti are reportedly looking to bolster the midfield department with a new signing. They currently have five players vying for two spots in the current 4-2-3-1 system, but Marco Baroni has been teasing a switch to 4-3-3, which would require additional depth. Moreover, Gaetano Castrovilli’s future at Formello remains uncertain, with reports suggesting a potential early exit.
According to Il Messaggero (via La Lazio Siamo Noi), the Aquile directors have set their sights on Fazzini who has been making a name for himself at Empoli over the past few years. The Tuscan club is renowned for producing talented young players who end up playing for bigger Serie A clubs, the likes of Tommaso Baldanzi, Samuele Ricci and Kristjan Asllani.
Although the 21-year-old’s campaign has been hampered by injuries, he remains one of the most promising young central midfielders in Serie A. The Massa native has been developing his game with the Azzurri since making the move from his original club, Capezzano, in 2017. His contract with Empoli runs until June 2027.
Moreover, the same source mentions that Lazio could strike a deal with Monza CEO Adriano Galliani that would see Jean-Daniel Akpa Akpro return to the U-Power Stadium. The 32-year-old has been omitted from Baroni’s plans this season. The report claims that the negotiations could also include young Monza midfielder Warren Bondo who has been on the Biancocelesti’s shortlist for quite some time now.
