Lecce striker Nikola Krstović has been declared safe after collapsing while playing for Montenegro against Bulgaria.
According to a report by Sky Italia, Nikola Krstović possibly avoided suffering a muscular or traumatic injury when he collapsed in Montenegro’s 2-1 win against Bulgaria in the UEFA Euro Qualifiers.
The striker was forced to go off the field on a stretcher in the 76th minute of the match after several medics rushed onto the pitch to assist him. The 23-year-old collapsed but the reason was not clear although he did sustain a blow to his knee in the early minutes of the game.
Lecce communicated through an official statement following the event, it read: “US Lecce communicates that, after having consulted the manager of the Montenegro national team, the footballer Nikola Krstovic is was replaced in the 31st minute of the second half of Montenegro – Bulgaria match due to retching and fatigue”
