Leicester 0-2 Man City: Player ratings as Savinho steers Cityzens to much-needed win | OneFootball

Leicester City were narrowly beaten 2-0 by an unconvincing Manchester City at the King Power Stadium on Sunday afternoon.

Both sides limped into their final fixture of 2024 in woeful form. While Leicester had collected just one victory from their previous 11 matches, Manchester City had an even worse record of one win in 13.

The desperate dearth of confidence coursing through the defending champions was obvious throughout the contest. Leicester looked a threat on each limited occasion they had possession, yet fell behind after 21 minutes.

Savinho was on hand to snaffle up the rebound from a long-range Phil Foden effort, ending his wait for a maiden City goal on his 24th appearance for the club.

Rather than wilt, Leicester were emboldened by City's opener, improving upon their bright start with an even more impressive 50-minute spell. Facundo Buonanotte and Jamie Vardy both squandered inviting sights of goal as City nervily hung on to an increasingly slender lead.

Erling Haaland settled the nerves with a header to make it 2-0, rising up above a muddled Leicester backline to nod in Savinho's cross. However, City's struggles were captured by the fact that Haaland's 74th-minute goal was his side's first shot of the second half.
