According to Leicestershire Live, Leicester City have been linked with a move for French midfielder Morgan Sanson, with reports claiming that manager Brendan Rodgers is keen to continue his spending spree.
Leicester City are not the only Premier League club to have been linked with a move for the 24-year-old midfielder, though, with Leicestershire Live suggesting that Everton, West Ham and Wolves have also been credited with an interest in the Marseille man.
The same report adds that Marseille are unlikely to let Sanson depart on the cheap and the Ligue 1 heavyweights have already slapped a daunting €35 million price tag on the highly-rated midfield ace.
Leicester City have already made the headlines twice this summer with big-money deals to bring in Ayoze Perez from Newcastle United, whilst Youri Tielemans’ loan spell from Monaco has also been made permanent for a club-record fee of £40 million.
Versatile full-back James Justin has also arrived from Luton Town to bolster the club’s defensive options.
Having narrowly missed out on a Europa League qualification spot the last term, the Foxes are showing plenty of ambition in the transfer market this summer, with Rodgers now at the helm of affairs.
Leicester have made a strong statement of intent by splashing the cash on Perez and Tielemans and a few more arrivals before the deadline could set the tone for a wonderful campaign, as the Foxes aim to break the top-six lock next term.
Meanwhile, speculations continue to surround the future of Marseille midfielder Morgan Sanson, who has been linked with several Premier League clubs over the past three months.
The 24-year-old has a contract until the summer of 2022 but it is understood that Marseille would let him go should a suitable offer be put on the table.
Sanson rose to prominence with Le Mans in Ligue 2 before carving out a big reputation for himself at Montpellier in the top-flight, where he registered 13 goals and 13 assists in 106 appearances across all competitions.
The central midfielder’s impressive run of form earned him a move to Marseille in January 2017 and he has established himself as one of the mainstays of the club’s midfield over the past two seasons.
As a matter of fact, he was one of the cornerstones of Marseille’s incredible run to the finals over the 2017-18 Europa League.
Essentially a central midfielder by trade, Sanson is capable of shielding the backline in a holding role deep in the middle of the park, whilst also showcasing the same level of proficiency in an advanced role further up the pitch.
In other words, the former French youth international has the versatility to rotate between multiple roles in the midfield.
The 24-year-old not only excels with his ability to read the game and break up the play but he also has the skillset and the technical abilities to operate as a creative outlet in the midfield, with his knack for creating space and a deadly eye for defence-splitting passes making him a wonderful all-around midfielder.
To put things into perspective, Leicester already have the influential creative presence of James Maddison in a No.10 role behind the striker, and with Ayoze Perez and Youri Tielemans also in the mix, the Foxes are probably looking at Sanson to add a bit more depth to their deep midfield options.
The Frenchman, of course, has the discipline and the concentration to play in a withdrawn role and it is easy to see how he could be another massive coup for the club.
Leicester lost Vicente Iborra back in January and Nampalys Mendy, who was an undisputed starter under Claude Puel, slipped down the pecking order following Rodgers’ arrival, with the new manager bringing about a change in formation and preferring Wilfried Ndidi and Tielemans in central midfield.
Adrien Silva is back from his loan spell at Monaco but his future continues to be up in the air. Hamza Choudhury also put in a few impressive performances last season, however, one cannot help but feel that someone like Sanson could add a lot more quality to Leicester’s ranks.

Keeping that in mind, the Foxes should not hesitate to splash the cash on Morgan Sanson, given that a busy summer window with plenty of investment might as well to a long way towards helping Rodgers challenge for a European spot next season.
