Leicester City defender Ryan Bertrand is likely to miss the rest of the season.
The veteran left-back suffered a knee injury during his warm-up before Leicester's 6-3 loss to Manchester City on December 26th.
The club now believes that Bertrand must have an operation, which means the 32-year-old will not be back until pre-season.
Manager Brendan Rodgers said on Bertrand: "Ryan's had an operation and that's going to keep him out for a large part of the season so it was only natural that he would come out of that (the Europa Conference League squad).
"I spoke to Ryan, his operation has gone well. He's had a real challenging season himself. He hasn't quite been to the level he would have liked for a number of reasons. This has probably topped it off for him.
"He's got to go away now and he'll recover, get himself stronger. He'll be in when the others are off at the end of the season getting himself ready and then we'll see what he's like come pre-season."
