Liga F round up: Paralluelo nets four, Granada boost survival hopes | OneFootball

Salma Paralluelo scored four goals in Barcelona’s comprehensive 7-1 Liga F win over Real Sociedad at the weekend. Meanwhile, at the opposite end of the table, Granada continued their resurgence with an away victory over Levante Las Planas on matchday 19 of the Spanish season.

In addition to those two matches, we will round up all the other games from the first round of fixtures following the international break.

Costa Adeje Tenerife 1-1 Villarreal

Tenerife were forced to play the majority of the contest with 10 players after goalkeeper Noelia Ramos was sent off in the 11th minute for elbowing Bicho. Maria Echezarreta came off the bench to deny Fatou Kanteh from the subsequent spot-kick. The 26-year-old ultimately made amends for her penalty miss when she thumped the ball into the bottom corner just after the half-hour mark.

However, Tenerife produced a swift response, with Claudia Blanco guiding the ball home from a deep cross. Despite having the numerical advantage, Villarreal were unable to find a winner in the second period. The result keeps the Yellow Submarine in 10th place and one point behind Tenerife in ninth position.

Levante Las Planas 1-2 Granada

Laura Requena put Granada in front inside the opening 10 minutes. The 33-year-old met Laura Pérez’s low cross to sweep the ball beyond Laia García. The same pair linked up just after the hour mark, with Requena nodding home from Pérez’s lofted delivery.

Jessica Martínez drove a low free-kick into the bottom corner to halve the deficit in the closing stages. However, Granada ultimately saw out the remainder of the contest to extend their unbeaten run to five league matches and move out of the bottom two.

Madrid CFF 1-2 Eibar

Madrid CFF suffered a setback in their quest to achieve Champions League qualification. Karen Araya produced a composed finish to get the top-three hopefuls off to a positive start. Eibar subsequently restored parity through Andrea Álvarez, who pounced on a rebound to fire home.

The Basque side must have thought they had spurned the chance to claim all three points when Esperanza Pizarro blazed her 81st-minute penalty over the bar. But, the Uruguay international showed great character to make amends just moments later. Pizarro thundered a stunning long-range effort into the top corner to end Eibar’s four-game winless run.

Sevilla 0-1 Real Madrid

Real Madrid tightened their grip on second spot with a narrow away win over Sevilla. After the two sides played out a goalless first half, Olga Carmona opened the scoring within three minutes of the restart. The World Cup winner linked up with Athenea del Castillo, before striking the ball past Esther Sullastres to score against her former club.

The strike proved enough to guide Real Madrid to a second straight victory, while Sevilla are now winless in five competitive matches.

Levante 1-2 Athletic Club

Third-placed Levante missed the chance to extend the three-point gap to Madrid CFF after they fell to a defeat against Athletic Club. Nataša Andonova tapped home from close range to give the hosts a narrow half-time lead.

The Basque outfit hit back through Ane Azkona, before Maddi Torre completed the turnaround in the 81st minute. The 27-year-old nodded in after an inswinging corner forced Andrea Tarazona to push the ball into the danger zone. The visitors kept Levante at bay for the remainder of the contest to clinch a third consecutive league victory.

Real Sociedad 1-7 Barcelona

Barcelona made light work of Sunday’s away meeting with Real Sociedad. Vicky López opened the scoring before Paralluelo netted a two-minute brace to effectively wrap up all three points inside the first 24 minutes of the Liga F clash. The 20-year-old then produced a sublime free-kick to send the ball in off the crossbar to complete her hat-trick before the half-time interval.

Not content with her work in the first period, Paralluelo grabbed her fourth within six minutes of the restart. The Spain international guided the ball home from Ona Batlle’s near-post cross. Caroline Graham Hansen quickly made it six with her 15th goal of the Liga F season.

There was still time for Alexia Putellas to mark her return from injury with a late strike, before Amaiur Sarriegi netted a consolation for the hosts.

Real Betis 2-2 Valencia

Betis fought back from two goals down to take a point off Valencia on Sunday. Marina Marti produced a precise finish to put Valencia in front in the 35th minute. Antonia Canales subsequently denied Júlia Aguado from the penalty spot to ensure the hosts went into the break with a slender advantage.

Matters got worse for Betis when Rhiannon Roberts was sent off for bringing Anita Marcos down in the box. The Valencia forward stepped up to dispatch the spot-kick and register her seventh league goal of the season.

Despite being a player light, the Andalusian side managed to establish a foothold thanks to Violeta Quiles’ thumping strike. The numbers were then evened when Jimena López received her second yellow card of the game.

As the contest drifted into the 89th minute, Natalia Montilla pounced onto Canales’ poor clearance to send her long-range shot over the retreating goalkeeper and into the awaiting net. Although Betis would have been pleased with their fightback, Granada’s victory has dropped them into the relegation zone. Meanwhile, Valencia are in 12th position and five points clear of the bottom two.

Atlético Madrid 1-0 Sporting Club Huelva

Atlético required just a solitary goal to get the better of Huelva in Sunday’s home meeting. Gabriela García scored the all-important goal in the opening stages of the second half. The 26-year-old slotted the ball home after being teed up by Rasheedat Ajibade. Atleti protected their narrow lead to claim the spoils and close the gap to third place to four points. As for the visitors, they remain rooted to the bottom of the table with just four points to their name.
