Liga F round up: Sevilla make Barcelona work, Atletico dominate Valencia | OneFootball

Barcelona were made to work for maximum points in their away meeting with Sevilla. The reigning Liga F champions are one of three teams with a 100 perceng record along with Real Madrid and Atlético Madrid.

Here, we will round up all eight matches that took place on matchday three of the 2024/25 Liga F season.

Levante 1-2 Real Sociedad

Érika González dispatched her fourth-minute spot kick to send the hosts into the break with a slender advantage. However, they were unable to protect their lead as Amaiur Sarriegi levelled the scoreline on the hour mark. The 23-year-old calmly rounded the goalkeeper before rolling the ball into the awaiting net.

Sarriegi still had another pivotal part to play as she slotted home an 81st-minute winner to secure Real Sociedad’s first win of the season. As for Levante, they are languishing at the foot of the table without a point to their name.

Granada 2-0 Eibar

After beginning the campaign with consecutive 2-0 victories, Eibar came out the wrong side of that scoreline in their away meeting with Granada. The contest appeared to be heading towards a draw until Edna Imade broke the deadlock in the 85th minute. The forward rose high in the box to meet Laura Pérez’s cross and direct her downward header past the outstretched María Miralles. There was still time left in the contest for Imade to produce an inch-perfect lob to wrap up all three points.

Levante Badalona 1-0 Madrid CFF

Levante Badalona maintain their unbeaten start to the season with a narrow win over Madrid CFF.  A foul by Aldana Cometti allowed the hosts to go to the penalty spot in first-half stoppage time. María Llompart stepped up to send Paola Ulloa the wrong way and fire Levante Badalona into a precious lead. The home side ultimately stood firm for the remainder of the contest to claim back-to-back victories and condemn the visitors to their first defeat of the season.

Sevilla 0-1 Barcelona

Barcelona had to remain patient in their search for an opener in Saturday’s away meeting with Sevilla. Claudia Pina struck the woodwork on two occasions before Aitana Bonmatí found the all-important breakthrough. Ewa Pajor flicked Ona Batlle’s cross into Bonmatí’s path, allowing the midfielder to send a left-foot strike past the helpless Esther Sullastres. Sevilla were unable to find an equaliser, but they would have been proud of the fact they restricted Barcelona to one goal.

Valencia 0-4 Atlético Madrid

Atleti produced a dominant display to sweep past Valencia at the weekend. Gabriela García opened the scoring, before Sheila Guijarro added a second in the 26th minute. Rasheedat Ajibade then added her name to the scoresheet, thumping a fierce strike past Antonia Canales to effectively seal maximum points before the break. Ajibade found the net again in the 90th minute to wrap up the scoring in a dominant display. While the visitors boast a 100% record, Valencia are down in the drop zone with a solitary point.

Real Madrid 2-0 Athletic Club

Real Madrid are still top of the Liga F table after they recorded a third consecutive league win without conceding. Olga Carmona kept her composure from the penalty spot to slot Real Madrid into an 18th-minute lead. Las Blancas doubled their advantage just five minutes later from a set-piece situation. Signa Bruun flicked on Teresa Abelleira’s corner, causing the ball to bounce off Athletic’s Maite Zubieta and into the net. The visitors thought they had pulled a goal from a corner of their own, only to see the effort ruled out for a foul in the box. Real Madrid ultimately saw out the remainder of the contest to condemn Athletic to their first defeat of the season.

Espanyol 0-0 Costa Adeje Tenerife

There may have been no goals, but Sunday’s clash did produce a couple of red cards. Mar Torras was sent off in the 81st minute for two bookable offences, before substitute María Pérez was given her marching orders in stoppage time. Espanyol are still winless, but they will be pleased to clinch their first point of the season. As for Tenerife, they have now taken four points from their last two matches.

Deportivo de la Coruña 0-0 Real Betis

Dépor offered the greater attacking threat in the contest, registering seven shots on target at Riazor. However, they were unable to find the crucial breakthrough, ensuring they had to settle for a share of the spoils. The result leaves Dépor and Betis waiting for their first wins of the 2024/25 season.
