Ligue 1 Predictions, Round 28
GFFN editor-in-chief Luke Entwistle and GFFN’s Raphaël Jucobin face off in our Ligue 1 predictions competition. It’s three points for a correct score, two points for a correct score difference, and one point for a correct result. Who will come out on top at the end of the season?

Lyon suffered a big defeat at the hands of Strasbourg on Friday. The 4-2 loss to a direct rival for the European places leaves them with ground to make up. However, the scoreline arguably was not a fair reflection with Lyon playing well in the first half and accumulating a higher xG than their opponents (1.78 to 2.87) over the course of the match. It doesn’t need to be all doom and gloom at OL but it will be if they can’t get a result against another direct competitor for the top four, Lille. If OL are free-flowing, open, dynamic, and exciting, Lille have been anything but in recent weeks.
There could be a physical factor at play here. Lille’s season began at the start of August due to having to go through the Champions League playoffs. Having already played four intense European matches by the end of August, it would only be normal if that is starting to catch up on them, especially since an injury crisis in mid-season prevented Lille from rotating. LOSC did get over the line against Lens, profiting from a Mathew Ryan error to net the only goal of the game. Les Sang et Or deserved at least a point, however. Only two points separate these two sides but Lyon, despite a heavy loss last weekend, are perhaps better set-up to grab all three points here.
