Liverpool boss Arne Slot has been handed a two-game touchline ban following his red card in last month’s Merseyside Derby.
Slot was shown a red card as tempers boiled over following the dramatic 2-2 draw between Everton and Liverpool at Goodison Park. Liverpool conceded a last-gasp equaliser to James Tarkowski, with the Reds aggrieved at the decision not to award a foul in the build-up.
At the full-time whistle, Liverpool midfielder Curtis Jones and Everton counterpart Abdoulaye Doucoure were dismissed as the two sets of players clashed.
Slot and assistant Sipke Hulshoff were also shown red cards after confronting referee Michael Oliver.
The ban for Slot means he will miss tonight’s clash with Newcastle at Anfield and will also be absent from the touchline when Liverpool host Southampton on March 8th. Slot has also been issued a fine of £70,000.
Slot admitted to the FA Charge of acting in “an improper manner and/or used insulting and/or abusive words and/or behaviour towards both the match referee and an assistant referee after the match had finished.”
Assistant Hulshoff has also been given a two-match touchline suspension and £7,000 fine.
