Liverpool may have been frustrated by their 2-2 draw against Manchester United, but there were a couple of bright spots in an otherwise tense encounter. With key fixtures on the horizon, Arne Slot’s side will need to manage their squad carefully amid ongoing injury concerns.
A significant boost for Liverpool came with the return of Ibrahima Konaté and Conor Bradley. Konaté’s commanding presence at the back was evident as he completed the full 90 minutes against United. Meanwhile, Bradley, stepping in for Trent Alexander-Arnold, nearly snatched a late winner, only to be denied by a brilliant save from Andre Onana.
These returns are timely for Slot, especially with a congested fixture list ahead. The manager will be hoping that both players can stay fit and contribute in the coming weeks.
Dominik Szoboszlai’s unexpected omission from the matchday squad against United raised eyebrows among fans. The club later confirmed that the Hungarian midfielder missed out due to illness.

“Dominik Szoboszlai misses out on the matchday squad due to illness,” Liverpool stated.
It remains unclear whether Szoboszlai will recover in time for the crucial Carabao Cup semi-final first leg against Tottenham Hotspur. His creativity and energy in midfield will be vital if Liverpool are to take a positive result to the return leg.
Joe Gomez’s injury has added to Liverpool’s defensive worries. The versatile defender limped off during the Reds’ victory over West Ham United with what appeared to be a hamstring problem. Speaking after the match, Slot confirmed the nature of the injury.

“You saw today an injury to Joe Gomez. If a player says he wants to stop, he has to be changed. In a sprint, then we all know it’s a hamstring, and we all know it’s going to take a while before he is back. I don’t know how long, but he will be out for quite a bit.”
The potential timeline for Gomez’s return remains uncertain, with Liverpool’s medical team set to monitor his progress closely.
