London City Lionesses sign Aston Villa goalkeeper Poor on loan | OneFootball

London City Lionesses have completed the signing of goalkeeper Sophia Poor on a loan deal from Aston Villa until the end of the season.

The Pride announced the news via a post on their official club website just a short time ago.

Poor joined Aston Villa in summer 2023 and she has gone on to provide some important goalkeeping cover. The 18-year-old impressed on her debut in a 3-0 defeat at Chelsea last season while she has gone on to add two further appearances to her tally.

The youngster spent her early years on the books at Leicester City. She never made a first team appearance for The Foxes but she did get a taste of senior football during a dual-registration spell at Loughborough Lightning. Poor then joined Aston Villa to continue her development and t0 push for regular minutes at first team level.

On the international stage, Poor has represented England up to and including Under-19 level and she will be hoping to continue her progression through the age groups in the coming years.

In her time at London City Lionesses, Poor will provide competition for the goalkeeping jersey alongside Emily Orman and Grace Moloney. The youngster could be named in the matchday squad for this weekend’s trip to Portsmouth.
