Lazio President Claudio Lotito confirms the offer for Empoli midfielder Jacopo Fazzini was ‘over €10m’ and they are looking at other candidates.

The 21-year-old midfielder is widely expected to leave the Stadio Castellani in the January transfer window and there are several clubs interested in his services.

While Napoli and Fiorentina are also options, Lazio were from the start the favourites and had been in advanced negotiations, but the situation seems to be at a standstill.

At an event to mark the 125th anniversary of the club’s foundation, Lazio President Lotito commented about the Fazzini talks.

“I was asked to make an offer for him and we did, then everyone is free to either accept that proposal or not. The offer was more than fitting, we are talking about over €10m, so it is not something to be sniffed at,” he told Sky Sport Italia.

“It’s not as if we are talking about Fazzini or death, we have a scouting network that is working to find players all over the world.”

Fazzini is a product of the Empoli youth academy who has made 10 appearances so far this season between Serie A and the Coppa Italia.

He scored two goals and has three caps for the Italy Under-21 side.

His contract with the Tuscan side runs to June 2027 and Empoli President Fabrizio Corsi assured there was no ‘clash’ with Lotito for the Fazzini asking price.
