Lucy Potter previews Brentford Women v Sport London E Benfica | OneFootball

Brentford Women defender Lucy Potter believes the Bees are carrying momentum into their League Cup clash with Sport London E Benfica on Sunday (3pm kick-off).

Karleigh Osborne’s side are back at Bedfont Sports Club for the second straight week, eyeing a 21st win in a row.

“We're feeling confident, not in an arrogant way, but I think the run that we’ve had, you can’t not be confident, the momentum’s with us, we’re playing well together as a team,” said Potter.

“The FA Cup run was great obviously on Sunday, we’re going in hopefully with another win, we don’t want to lose that unbeaten streak.”

Brentford and Sport London are no strangers to each other, the two having been league rivals last season.

They faced off in FA Cup third-round qualifying this October, the Bees winning 2-0.

Reminiscing on that clash, Potter said the side would be eyeing more goals this time around.

“The first half was quite frustrating because we didn’t score straight away, I think we panicked a little bit,” explained Potter.

“I think we should’ve scored more, but we kept a clean sheet and that’s the main thing as well. Hopefully we can get some more goals on Sunday and keep another clean sheet.”

Last time out

The Bees created history last time out with a 1-0 win over National League side London Seaward in the FA Cup second round.

Nikki Woods’ late goal was enough to secure the victory, booking Brentford’s place in the third round of the competition for the first time ever against Fulham.

Earlier in the FA Cup, goals from Freya Worsley and Ashley Cheatley helped the Bees defeat Sport London 2-0 at Bedfont.

Sport London enter Sunday’s clash ninth in the LSE Premier table, with two wins, one draw and six losses from their nine league games.

Their last three games have seen Sport London handed two 7-0 defeats by Dartford and Ebbsfleet United and a 5-0 loss to Fulham in the Capital Cup.

Public transport to the pitch is available. Hatton Cross train station is a 10-minute walk away from the venue, while bus services are also available along Hatton Road.

Entry to the game is free and no ticket is required to enter. The entrance to the venue can be found on Hatton Road.

There is plenty of seating available for fans around the pitch and standing room is also available.

The Bees’ clash will be taking place on Bedfont’s grass pitch, the side eyeing a return to winning form after their Capital Cup run ended in their last fixture.

Last time out

Brentford welcomed Tooting Bec to Bedfont midway through November, falling to a 3-0 defeat to end their Capital Cup run.

Despite the result, the performance was much improved from the Bees’ 7-0 league loss to Tooting Bec earlier this season.

Last time out in the league, Brentford lost to Hammersmith 2-0 away from home.
