Besides their goals against Como, Romelu Lukaku, Scott McTominay, and David Neres have had an impressive start to the season at Napoli, suggesting the club’s €90m investment has paid off.
Napoli have 16 points in the opening seven Serie A games of the season, which means they’ll spend the October break at the top of the table.
Antonio Conte has been a breath of fresh air after the Partenopei’s disastrous title defence last season, when they finished 10th, outside a European placement.
However, new signings also helped the Italian tactician, as highlighted by Sunday’s printed edition of La Gazzetta dello Sport on page 18.
Lukaku, McTominay and David Neres, three new players who joined the club for a combined €90m fee last summer, found the net against Como on Friday and delivered impressive performances for the Partenopei this term.
Lukaku has played 363 minutes across six appearances in all competitions, scoring three goals and providing five assists. The Belgian moved to the Stadio Maradona in a €30m deal from Chelsea.
Neres, who swapped Benfica with the Partenopei for €28m plus €2m add-ons, has two goals and four assists in 139 minutes (seven appearances).
McTominay has played 299 minutes in five appearances, scoring two goals and providing one assist. The Scotland international joined Napoli from Manchester United for €30.5m last summer.
