The FA Cup action continued from the fourth round on Saturday with six fixtures. Here is what went down around the grounds.

Fulham crash out at the hands of Newcastle

Scorers: Longstaff 36′, Burn 61′

A goal in each half saw Newcastle send Fulham out, booking their place in the next round.

The best chance in the opening exchanges fell to Rodrigo Muniz, but the Brazilian saw his shot be narrowly saved by the fingertips of Martin Dúbravka.

The opener finally came late on in the first-half when Sean Longstaff pounced on a loose-ball in the Fulham box before firing home to give the Magpies the lead.

The visitors doubled their lead just past the hour mark, potentially killing off the game when Dan Burn collected a saved shot to tap home from point-blank range.

Everton out in heartbreaking fashion

Scorers: Harrison 55′; Mykolenko OG 39′, Woodrow 90+6′

Everton conceded a 96th minute goal as they exited the FA Cup in agonising fashion following a 2-1 loss to Luton.

Luton, who already had a league win at Goodison Park this season under their belts, hit the front shortly before half-time when Everton failed to deal with a corner from the right and Vitaliy Mykolenko diverted into his own net.

Everton appeared ensured themselves a replay at Kenilworth Road with Jack Harrison’s second half leveller, when his low effort from the area squirmed under goalkeeper Tim Krul, only for late drama to decide it.

Again, the Toffees failed to deal with a corner and after two awful attempts to clear, Cauley Woodrow pounced from close range to turn in the loose ball and put the Hatters in the hat.

Plymouth earn Elland Road draw

Scorers: Anthony 31′; Randell 74′

Plymouth came from behind to earn themselves an FA Cup replay after a 1-1 draw with Leeds at Elland Road.

Jaidon Anthony gave Leeds the lead in a rare home cup tie with a magnificent goal as he slalomed his way into the area from the left flank, leaving defenders in his wake before curling into the corner.

But Adam Randell’s second half equaliser means the sides will meet again on the south coast in an illustrious home clash for Argyle.

Leicester waltz into fifth round

Scorers: Vardy 47′, Akgün 72′, Praet 88′

Leicester safely navigated their way past Birmingham City thanks to a routine 3-0 win at the King Power Stadium on Saturday afternoon.

After a scoreless first half, two club legends combined to break the deadlock for the Foxes as Marc Albrighton crossed for Jamie Vardy to head home the opener.

Despite some nervy moments, Leicester put the result beyond doubt inside the final 20 minutes when Yunus Akgün lashed a piledriver home from the edge of the area before Dennis Praet rounded things off with a third before the final whistle.

Hat-trick hero Pedro blunts Blades

Scorers: Hamer 44′, Osula 45+8′; Buonanotte 14′, Pedro (PEN) 28′, (PEN) 52′, 68′, Welbeck 90+7′

João Pedro hit a hat-trick for Brighton as they won 5-2 at Bramall Lane to book their place in round five.

The visitors took a 14th minute lead through Facundo Buonanotte when he thundered a sumptuous strike into the top corner from 30 yards.

That advantage was doubled from the penalty spot shortly before half an hour of play through Pedro, only for the Blades to stun them with two goals before the break from Gustavo Hamer and Will Osula to level.

But another Pedro penalty seven minutes after half-time restored their lead before he grabbed his hat-trick and the match ball to send the Seagulls into the hat for the draw, with Danny Welbeck adding a fifth deep into added time.

FA Cup fairytale for Maidstone

Scorers: Sarmiento 56′; Reynolds 43′, Corne 65′

Sixth tier Maidstone United pulled off one of the FA Cup’s greatest ever shocks with a 2-1 win over Premier League promotion hopefuls Ipswich Town at Portman Road.

The National League South side sit 98 places below the Championship outfit in the football pyramid and are the lowest ranked side left in the competition but booked their place in the fifth round for the first time ever on Saturday afternoon.

They took a surprise lead moments before half-time when, after Ipswich had earlier rattled the upright twice, they caught the hosts cold on a clinical counter-attack and Lamar Reynolds finished impeccably with a delightful lob.

Kieran McKenna’s side put a dent in the potential fairytale when Jeremy Sarmiento’s low deflected strike found its way into the net to equalise.

However, parity was restored for just 10 minutes before Sam Corne sent his side through with a clinical finish after Ipswich lost possession in the centre of the park to write himself into club folklore forever.

It was Maidstone’s seventh game in this season’s FA Cup, with their campaign having begun in August – and it isn’t over yet.
