Manchester United have reportedly decided who will be the player who’ll inherit Marcus Rashford’s Number 10 jersey.
The club’s academy product was forced out of Carrington in mid-season after finding himself in exile at Ruben Amorim’s court for more than 45 days. After never-ending speculations linking him with some of the most renowned clubs in Europe, the 27-year-old ended up sealing a loan move to Aston Villa who also have the option to buy him at the end of the season for £40 million.
Rashford’s encouraging start to his experience at Bermingham did little to change Amorim’s mind who remains adamant about offloading the player for good. While it remains to be seen if the Villains will exercise their buy option, the England international’s destiny appears to be far from Old Trafford.
Therefore, it will be interesting to see which Man Utd player will be donning the iconic Number 10 jersey which once belonged to the likes of Wayne Rooney, Ruud van Nistelrooy and Zlatan Ibrahimovic, just to name a few.
According to Manchester Evening News, the club might be tempted to hand it to a new signing, but based on meritocracy, there can only be one candidate, and his name is Amad Diallo.

The Ivorian had been somewhat under the radar in his first few seasons at the club, only managing to impress while away on loan with Rangers and Sunderland. He had also been overlooked in favour of Antony back when Erik ten Hag was in charge, but the situation drastically changed since the arrival of Amorim who has been heavily relying on his services since his arrival in November.
The young winger contributed with nine goals and seven assists prior to the injury he suffered in February. His feats include inspiring a late comeback against Man City, and snatching the equaliser against Liverpool at Anfield.
Therefore, a large section of the fanbase would love to see Amad trade his Number 16 with the much more prestigious Number 10 jersey.
