Manchester United reportedly plan to step up their interest in the potential transfer of Southampton wonderkid Tyler Dibling if they win the Europa League.

The Red Devils have just made it into the semi-finals of the Europa League after beating Lyon in a thrilling contest last night.

And while there’s still some way to go, Man Utd could have a shot at winning the Europa League and securing Champions League qualification that way.

If they do, it seems they would then make the £100m-rated Dibling one of their top targets for the summer, according to ESPN.

The 19-year-old looks like a hugely exciting prospect, and it makes sense that United are one of a number of big clubs looking at him, with ESPN also naming Chelsea as one of his suitors.

Could Champions League football give Manchester United a transfer boost?

United now urgently need to win the Europa League as they’re not going to finish in the Premier League top five.

MUFC have had a dire league campaign, but knockout football is different, and it’s somewhere the club have done well in recent years.

Erik ten Hag managed to win both the Carabao Cup and FA Cup in his two full seasons at Old Trafford, so perhaps Amorim can now deliver the Europa League.

If United miss out, it’s going to be very tough for them to land their top transfer targets this summer, with Dibling and similar players likely to have other more tempting offers.

Southampton will surely struggle to keep hold of Dibling, but he’s surely good enough that he can be a bit picky about which club he joins next.

United are a big name who could give Dibling a key role, but the England Under-21 international will surely want to play in Europe’s biggest club competition if possible, and others like Chelsea might be more likely to be able to offer that.
