Manchester United winger Antony could move to Real Betis in the next few days following their decision to offload Assane Diao to Como.
The Brazil international has been a fringe player for the Red Devils this term and his situation has not improved despite the change of manager.
Ruben Amorim has primarily used Antony as a substitute since his appointment.
Betis reportedly want to sign Antony on a temporary basis, but a deal was reliant on Diao heading for the exit door in January.
The La Liga outfit are now close to selling Diao to Como for £9.1 million, as per journalist Fabrizio Romano.
This could pave the way for Antony to join them in the coming days. A loan deal could rely on Betis agreeing to pay part of his £150,000 weekly wages.
The former Ajax man has been hugely disappointing for the Red Devils, registering just 12 goals and five assists from 94 appearances in all competitions.
Antony was out of favour under former manager Erik ten Hag earlier this season, and his fortunes have not changed under Amorim over the past five weeks.
The 24-year-old does not possess the defensive awareness to play as a wing-back. He has also lacked creativity when playing in the number 10 position.
Antony is lacking confidence at the moment. A loan spell with Betis could be a good solution if the La Liga outfit can guarantee him regular game time.
United may need to cover most of Antony’s wages for a temporary deal to materialise.
If the winger made a big impression, United could recoup a decent transfer fee from his summer sale.
