Manchester United would be able to bring Hannibal Mejbri back to Carrington in the summer thanks to two clauses inserted in the contract.
The Red Devils poached the Tunisian from Monaco in the summer of 2019, adding him to their youth ranks. The midfielder managed to impress during his time with the U17 and U19 teams.
But after reaching the senior squad, the youngster found playing time hard to come by, so the club sent him out on several loan stints.
The 22-year-old was able to showcase his promise, especially during his time at Birmingham City, where the club’s then-manager John Eustace praised his ‘phenomenal’ displays after setting records in terms of distance covered.
Nevertheless, Man Utd still opted to sell him last summer. Hannibal thus joined Burnley on a deal worth £5.4 million which could potentially rise to £9.4 million.
On Monday, the Clarets mathematically sealed their promotion to the Premier League after beating Sheffield United 2-1, thus securing a Top 2 finish. Hence, Mejbri will have another opportunity to prove his worth in the top flight.
But as the Manchester Evening News points out, United have the opportunity to lure the player back to Carrington if they wish to.

As the source explains, the Red Devils inserted a buy-back clause in their agreement with Burnley, albeit the fixed price is undisclosed.
Moreover, United have another clause in their favour, allowing them to match any offer that the club and the player receive.
That being said, it’s hard to imagine Ruben Amorim being interested in bringing back Hannibal.
The Tunisia international has cemented himself as a regular feature for Brunley, contributing with a goal and four assists. However, United will be keen to bolster their ranks with top-notch players in order to regain their competitive edge.
Hence, their first summer signing might be Wolves’ Matheus Cunha, as the two parties have reportedly held ‘positive talks’.
