Man Utd confirm star with 100% dribbles won vs Fulham won’t face Real Sociedad on Thursday | OneFootball

Manchester United have provided an update on the Europa League squad ahead of the first leg of the round of 16 tie at Real Sociedad on Thursday.

The Red Devils recently bowed out of the FA Cup following a penalty shoot-out loss to Fulham in the fifth round.

Bruno Fernandes was the stand-out performer for United. He scored the equaliser with a fine long-range goal.

Chibo Obi was also impressive after replacing Rasmus Hojlund after the hour mark.

The 17-year-old created three big chances for himself. He could not bag the winner but induced a fine save from Bernd Leno.

The youngster also completed 100 percent of his dribbles while winning four duels.

There have been suggestions that Obi should make his full United debut, but that will not happen on Thursday.

United did not include the teenager in the revised A-list squad for the Europa League knock-out phase.

Winter signings Patrick Dorgu and Ayden Heaven were added and will be part of the matchday squad in midweek.

Dorgu’s three-match ban only applies to domestic games. The Dane is eligible to face Sociedad.

United are permitted to include players aged 21 or below in the B-list squad every matchday.

However, Obi does not qualify for that either. B List should consist of graduates who have continuously spent at least two years at the club.

With Obi having only joined from Arsenal’s academy last summer, he does not make the cut.

Hence, United won’t be able to utilise his services for the remainder of the Europa League campaign.

Manager Ruben Amorim could ask an out-of-form Hojlund to lead the line at the Reale Arena.

The manager could also opt for Joshua Zirkzee up front. Alejandro Garnacho and Christian Eriksen could start in the attacking midfield department.
