Manchester United are reportedly keeping close tabs on Borussia Dortmund midfielder Felix Nmecha who has been earning plaudits for his solid displays this season.

In recent days, reports from Germany pinpointed the 24-year-old as a transfer target for the Red Devils who are expecting to part ways with Christian Eriksen once his contract expires at the end of the season.

The Premier League giants are also hoping to offload Casemiro who, despite his improved displays in recent weeks, hasn’t exactly justified his hefty wages (circa £350,000 per week).

CaughtOffside has now provided additional confirmation on the story. The source insists United are indeed keen to sign the German midfielder who might cost them a figure in the region of €48 million.

In addition to Eriksen and Casemiro, the source notes that Kobbie Mainoo’s future at Old Trafford is anything but certain amidst the debacle engulfing his contract extension talks.

Therefore, the Reds will be desperate to recruit one or more quality players in the middle of the park, and Nmecha could be one of the best solutions, especially given his age, experience and familiarity with the Premier League.

After all, the Hamburg native started his career at Manchester City’s academy before he went on to make a name for himself at Wolfsburg, and subsequently sign for Dortmund in the summer of 2023.

This season, Nmecha has been a regular feature for BVB. The club’s former manager Nuri Sahin described him as an ‘exceptional’ player. He has thus far contributed with three goals and two assists in 27 appearances in all competitions, but his momentum was halted by ligament injury, so he remains out of action.

Nmecha has been a German international player since 2023. He has thus earned three senior caps, scoring one goal in the process.
