Manchester United see Mason Mount as an ideal fit for Ruben Amorim's setup and would be reluctant to entertain offers for the midfielder, a report has revealed.

Mount is under immense pressure at Old Trafford after spending most of his two years with the club sidelined through injury. The £60m signing has scored once in 33 appearances and has played just 414 minutes across all competitions this season.

As one of the club's high earners, it has been suggested that United could look to cut ties with Mount this summer, but David Ornstein of The Athletic believes a summer departure is unlikely.

While there are obvious doubts over whether any team would be prepared to pay the sort of money needed to hand United an accounting profit on Mount, it is believed the Red Devils are more interested in helping the former Chelsea midfielder rediscover his best fitness and form.

Head coach Amorim has openly admitted his excitement towards working with Mount, who dazzled in a similar 3-4-2-1 setup at Stamford Bridge under Thomas Tuchel.

"If you look at the history of Mason Mount, he played in this system many times, especially in Chelsea, he played left-hand, right-hand [side]," Amorim said recently.

"So I think it's a very good position for him."

Mount, who remains under contract with United until the summer of 2028, made his long-awaited return from a hamstring injury before the international break and managed his seventh appearance of the Amorim era in the recent 1-0 defeat to Nottingham Forest.
