Manchester United are continuing their search for a new goalkeeper ahead of the summer transfer window, and the latest player on their radar is Dinamo Zagreb’s Dominik Livakovic.

According to the Daily Mail, United scouts were in attendance to watch Livakovic in action as Dinamo Zagreb drew 0-0 at Hajduk Split on Sunday.

Priced around £10 million, Livakovic is an attractive prospect for several Premier League clubs. Leeds United have also shown interest in the keeper.

Livakovic has been a mainstay for Dinamo Zagreb since 2015, garnering Champions League and international experience.

The Croatian international has made 186 appearances for the club across all competitions.

There is a massive question mark around United’s current number one – David de Gea.

There are complaints about his distribution and costly mistakes during this season. Many people feel he is unsuitable for manager Erik ten Hag’s system.

His contract expires at the end of the season. The club is keen to reduce his hefty £375,000-a-week wages, but he has not signed on the dotted line.

If De Gea does not reach a compromise over his new contract, United will be in the market for a new first-choice goalkeeper.

Livakovic is one of the players they will consider, along with other potential targets such as Leopold Wahlstedt.

United scout Tommy Moller Nielsen watched the Sweden international keep a clean sheet for Odds Bk against Rosenborg on Sunday.

United’s back-up goalkeeper, Dean Henderson, has been on loan at Nottingham Forest this season. However, his loan spell has been cut short due to a thigh injury.

Henderson is motivated to play regularly next season after leaving United angrily. He will not want to return to Old Trafford as an understudy.

Livakovic could be an excellent addition to the squad. He will provide healthy competition for the number one spot.

The 28-year-old would provide United with a reliable back-up option in case of injury or suspension.
