Manchester United are set to host Newcastle United in the Premier League tomorrow.
The Red Devils will be without Bruno Fernandes and Manuel Ugarte.
Fernandes picked up two yellow cards in the 2-0 loss to Wolverhampton Wanderers, while Ugarte received his fifth booking of the season in the same game and is suspended.
Manager Ruben Amorim has axed Marcus Rashford from four consecutive matchday squads. His inclusion is highly doubtful as Amorim is still not impressed with the forward.
Alejandro Garnacho could start as one of the number tens. Garnacho was also absent from the United squad that faced Manchester City earlier this month.
He has been relegated to a substitute role in the last two league matches. The Argentine has yet to perform well under Amorim.
Garnacho has struggled to adapt to the new 3-4-2-1 formation, which doesn’t accommodate his preferred position.
He has bagged three goals and one assist in 17 league outings this season.
As a natural left-winger, the 20-year-old thrives on holding the width and cutting inside with the ball.
However, the current set-up lacks that role, forcing him to adjust his playing style to fit into the team’s new system.
Garnacho enjoyed a fantastic 2023/24 campaign. Former United star Wayne Rooney described him as a ‘standout player‘.
The Magpies will present a formidable challenge to the Red Devils, and the talented youngster must step up to help end United’s losing streak.
He couldn’t have asked for a better opportunity, with Fernandes suspended and Rashford potentially out of the squad.
