For Brendan Rodgers and his high-flying Bhoys, things could hardly be going better domestically as they hunt for a fourth successive Scottish Premiership title.

Today’s 3-0 win over Hibernian at Celtic Park, along with results elsewhere, puts the Celts nine points clear at the top of the SPFL table with a game in hand over second-placed Aberdeen.

The Hoops are currently in the midst of a heavy fixture schedule, but one which they are so far managing with all the style and class that you would expect from the Scottish champions.

Speaking to Celtic TV after the match, Brendan Rodgers expressed his delight at winning at Paradise this afternoon, but also admitted that he would have liked to have seen more intensity in the Celts’ defensive play.

He also praised ‘world-class’ Kasper Schmeichel for his MOTM performance, with the Celtic No. 1 producing a big save in the first minute to prevent Hibernian taking an early lead.

He said: “It was a very good win. In terms of our midweek game and all the travelling. It was a tough game physically and Hibs have had a full week to prepare.

‘So in the end, it’s three very good goals and a fantastic win.’

“I thought our pressing was nowhere near the level that we would expect and want.

“Because of that, we were reliant on our world-class goalkeeper who made some brilliant saves for us.

“If an away team come here and get that early goal, then it gives them extra motivation to stay in the game. He’s a top international goalkeeper and we needed him today.”
