Manchester City have made an internal decision on the future of Bernardo Silva at the Etihad Stadium ahead of a busy summer transfer window that will witness several incomings and outgoings, as per a new report.

Silva, 30, joined Manchester City from AS Monaco in the summer of 2017 and has long held a desire to return closer to his homeland in Portugal after a trophy-laden spell working alongside Pep Guardiola at the Etihad Stadium.

The Portugal international has just over 12 months left on his current deal at the Etihad Stadium and remains one of the first names on Guardiola’s teamsheet as City look to secure a top-five Premier League finish to ensure UEFA Champions League football next term.

Since the COVID-19 pandemic, Silva’s future in Manchester has been a subject of speculation during every summer transfer window and it does feel like the upcoming window could mark an amicable parting of ways between the midfielder and the reigning Premier League champions.

As reported by Belgian football journalist Sacha Tavolieri, Manchester City have made Bernardo Silva known he does not feature in the club’s plans beyond the current campaign, which is likely to see the playmaker edge closer to an exit as the season draws to a close.

Silva started for City in a crucial 2-0 victory against Everton at Goodison Park at the weekend and the regardless of where his future past the summer lies, the ex-Benfica man will be focussed on ending a disappointing season on a high and leading Manchester City to Europe.

Guardiola famously said in 2019 that throughout the time he would be in charge of Manchester City, Silva would be amongst his ranks and after years of unparalleled success on all fronts, it does appear a historic chapter is set to come to a close for Silva in Manchester.

The midfielder has earned himself cult hero status amongst the Manchester City fanbase for reasons that can’t be quantified and with Kevin De Bruyne leaving in the summer, Silva could also be in for a massive send-off from the club as the campaign comes to a close.
